Real truth about dubai 3 (United Arab Emirates)UAE/ world richest country
On the Listening Post’s radar this week: closed circuit cameras in Dubai blow the cover off what was meant to be a clandestine political assassination. And we present our second report from Kenya on the media and its problems with corruption, both outside and inside.
Dubai police think someone within Hamas leaked information about the recently slain al-Mabhouhs trip to the Emirate. The police chief suggested Hamas launch an investigation to get the bottom of the situation. Meanwhile, it is likely new revelations regarding al-Mabhouhs killing will be exposed in the near future. Dubai police said they have damning information about the killers use of diplomatic passports to enter Dubai.
How many high class assassins does it take to kill one Hamas leader? Well, according to Dubai police, who released CCTV footage of the suspects, its not one, not two… but 11. The group of British, Irish, French and German suspected hit-men arrived in Dubai dressed as tourists and on separate flights. They were hunting for Mahmud al-Mabhuh who came to Dubai allegedly shopping for weapons. The next day he was found strangled in his hotel room and with traces of torture. It is not clear whether it was a lack of professionalism from the alleged hit squad or Dubai’s passion for CCTV that helped the police, but they were able to identify their suspects within 24 hours.
quick video i took whilst on the 155th floor of the burj dubai whilst still in construction, which is equivalent to being roughly around 590m up. It was unfortunate that the day i went up was quite hazy, and i didn’t have much time to record either, so this is all I could come up with. At the time of the video, the Burj Dubai had reached the 157th floor, which is where it will stay for a while as from there the actual frame of the building becomes all steel and not concrete (due to the last 200m or so of the building not actually going to be inhabitable, it’s merely there to make the building taller). Enjoy.
When Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was found dead in his Dubai hotel room last month, the death was chalked up to natural causes. But evidence revealed in the past few days indicates that the Israeli spy agency, Mossad, may have been behind the murder - and the details have sent shockwaves around the world. No one believes it will be the last Mossad assassination in the Arab world, but will the incident be swept under the carpet this time? Riz Khan speaks with Robert Fisk, the Middle East correspondent for the UK daily The Independent, and Yossi Melman, the intelligence and military affairs correspondent for the Israeli daily Haaretz, who co-authored ‘Every Spy a Prince: The Complete History of Israel’s Intelligence Community’.
IN THE FIELD - Hamas, the militant Palestinian movement which rules the Gaza Strip, accuses Israel of killing 50-year-old Mabhuh.

Dubai’s police chief says he’s almost certain Israel was involved in last month’s assassination of a senior Hamas official. Dahi Khalfan Tamim says if proven then an arrest warrant should be issued for Israel’s top spy, the man who’s in charge of Mossad. Robert Fisk is the Middle East correspondent for the British newspaper the Independent. He says, if Israel is behind the assassination, then Tel Aviv could find itself in a diplomatic crisis with some of it’s European allies.
